Timpe d'Arancio - Azienda Agricola di Vinci Michele
100% natural organic farming – VinNatur member
SS 188 C.da Arancio - 92017 Sambuca di Sicilia (AG) www.timpedarancio.it

A truly outstanding farm, founded in 2016 through the owner's vision and courage, built around native Sicilian grape varieties and a rigorously certified organic approach. Seven hectares on the shores of Lake Arancio, in the Agrigento hinterland.
Le timpe are the red clay clods of Contrada Arancio — the very soil that gives these wines their unmistakable minerality. A name rooted in the land, before it ever became a winery name, at 220 metres above sea level.

Harvesting is strictly manual, in small crates, to preserve the integrity of every bunch. Only sulphur and copper are used to protect the vines — the oldest treatments in existence.
In the cellar, the philosophy is one of subtraction, not addition. The grapes are destemmed and gently pressed, then ferment and macerate without temperature control and without added yeasts — only the wild yeasts naturally present on the skins.
No enzymes, no additives, no microfiltration. Before bottling, a minimal correction with small amounts of sulphites protects the wine on its journey to the glass.

The Amphora Wines revive the ancient art of vinification in terracotta jars: fermentation on the skins and seeds without added yeasts, to reveal the deepest nuances of native Sicilian varieties.

We particularly enjoyed — the Catarratto IGT Terre di Sicilia… Per Grazia Ricevuta… the Perricone… Guariccolo IGT Terre di Sicilia and the Nero d'Avola DOC Sicilia.

Timpe d'Arancio wines, in our view, are for those who want to know where what they drink comes from. For the chef looking for a wine with a story to tell in the dining room.
For the sommelier who wants to surprise guests with labels still little known but of rare consistency. For the enthusiast who is not content merely to drink well, but wants to drink right.

These are living wines, sometimes unpredictable, always honest. Like the Sicily that produces them.
